In April, we traveled to England for a jolly ol' time. Here's some shots:
I had lots of fun activities planned for us for our 'trip' to England, but in the end we ended up mainly focusing on enjoying the best foods of England. We had fish and chips with my mom:
And we had shepherd's pie with Michael, Madison and Van:
We also had Curry Chicken--England's national dish--with a side of 'Bubble & Squeak', also with mom. Here's Jac making the Bubble & Squeak:
And mom excited for the delicious smelling curry chicken:
And wel also the quintessentially English Sunday Lamb Roast:
Lastly, Jac made some classic Scotch Eggs (which is really Scotland, but close enough):
In addition to amazing English food, we had a few drinks popular in England. I really loved Enland's most popular alcoholic beverage -- the Gimlet:
And didn't necessarily care for the other one we tried. It was so forgettable that I've even forgotten the name!
England Activity: Football is Life
For our big England outing, we went to a professional soccer game. "Football" (soccer's name in England) is a national obsession, and having just watched a tv show about an English football team a few months ago (Ted Lasso), we were actually kinda excited to experience the buzz first hand. So, we went to see our local soccer team -- the Salt Lake Real -- play Toronto. We had pretty good seats:
(Sidenote: Jac wore my dad's jacket. He likes it and it looks good on him. Awwww! I love that.)
The game was pretty fun. We did get kinda bored and ended up leaving early to beat the end-of-game traffic...but it was fun to have experienced a professional football game (my first) and to do such a quintessential English activity!
After the game, we went out for $5 sushi (which happens every Saturday from 10pm-12). Not a very English thing to do, but SCORE -- we got a TON of sushi for just about $30!!!
