January's Adventure: Ogden Weekend Getaway

For our first trip of the new year, we didn't go far or splash out on big activities. We went just one hour north to Ogden and spent the whole time relaxing, eating, and doing silly stuff.  And it was perfect. :)

We stayed at this large, historic house (through airBNB). It's broken up into three apartments. We had the small front one. Here are some pictures:

Our first night there we went to the Prairie Schooner Steakhouse, where we ate in our own covered wagon, he he.

The portions were huge, the food was just okay, but the atmosphere was so silly and fun.  Overall a fun experience to have.

Since this was a chill weekend, we spent the rest of the first night watching football & doing crafts.  Jac's team -- the 49ers -- lost the game (a playoff for the Super Bowl) and they lost BADLY.  So that was a bummer.  I, on the other hand, had a good time trying a new craft.

I finished it in just a few hours. It was mindless and fun but the end result is kinda juvenile.  My students could literally do this craft, lol.

Exploring Historical Ogden
The next day we spent some time driving around and checking out historic sights in Ogden (and reading about its wild past of speakeasies and bootlegging and gambling...)  Here are some shots from our explorations:

Mini-Golf with our new Get Out Pass!
Next we did a little indoor mini-golf (for free with our pass)

Part was kinda glow-in-the-dark, which was fun but made it extra challenging. That's Jac teeing off in the distance:

Jac won, darn it.

So silly but so fun!  We even took a photo booth picture afterward.  I think we need to start a new tradition of taking these photo booth pictures....start a new collection!

For dinner on our second (and last) night there, we went to one of Ogden's best restaurants -- Table 25.  That was fun!  We NEVER go to fancy, expensive restaurants so this we a real experience. And it was great to have Jac pick all the best menu items with all his experience.

We had a window seat looking right out onto Ogden's historic 25th street, which was all light up for the holidays. So charming and so fun to people watch.

We liked the experience so much that we've decided we're going to go out to a new, nice restaurant four times a year (quarterly). We already know our next destination -- Francks in SLC.

And...that was it for the trip. Short and sweet...and so much fun. :)
